Changes and Decisions...

I just realized how many decisions I have to make over the next year. Life changing decisions. I believe all decisions made could have the potential to be life changing. Sometimes God gives you the answers to the decisions. Sometimes he say you choose and I will back and bless that choice. I'm praying for wisdom right now. I need wisdom as I embark on my future with my soon to be wife. I never realized before how different decisions are when there is more than just your life in the picture. I want to do what's best for my soon to be family. I want to follow exactly what God's plan is. I'm at a cross road right now and I feel like this is one of those times where God says, "You choose, I trust you." I just need to pray: constantly, expectantly, and humbly.

A Move of God...

Let us dive into the book of Acts to see how God moved in the forming of the early church and apply that to our own lives.

First they (being the disciple of Jesus) were all gathered in one place. I believe this is extremely important to have a mighty move of God. God put other believers in our lives for a reason. There is just something amazing that happens when God's people are together.

Acts 2:1

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

The Holy Spirit fell down unto them. What can we do as a church without the Holy Spirit? Nothing! Sure we can have a church and maybe even grow in numbers, but the Holy Spirit is needed to really be in line with the will of God for the church. I believe being filled with the Holy Spirit is a continuous thing.

Acts 2:2-4

Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

There has to be something different about God's people. That day as the Holy Spirit enabled them, they began to speak other tongues, because there were so many different people, from so many different regions and languages. The people realized that there was something different about the followers of Christ that day, and even though some doubted, there was no mistaking that something amazing was happening.

Acts:5-13

Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!" Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?" Some, however, made fun of them and said, "They have had too much wine."

The Word of God has to be proclaimed. Peter stood up and began to proclaim the word of God to the people. It is so important to be in the word daily. How are you going to tell others about what you don't even know yourself.

Acts 2:14-36
Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.
These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
" 'In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
I will show wonders in the heaven above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

"Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. David said about him:
" 'I saw the Lord always before me.
Because he is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will live in hope,
because you will not abandon me to the grave,
nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence.'

"Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,
" 'The Lord said to my Lord:
"Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet."

"Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."

People were convicted and the salvation through Jesus was taught. When there is a move of God people realize who they are without God. God touches the very heart of the sinner. Conviction is not something people like to talk about, but it is crucial to repentance.

Acts 2:37-41

When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call."With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Continued learning and discipleship is very important to becoming what God wants you to be. This is why fellowship with your fellow christian is so important. We must read the word, pray, and mediated constantly on the Word of God. We must be in agreement with out fellow believers. We must have support and be in one accord with our spiritual leaders.

Acts 2:42-47

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Expectation...

What do you expect when you get up every morning? Do you expect that same old stuff that happened yesterday? If so, you will probably get just that. I believe expectation is the breeding ground for the miraculous.

Psalm 5:3
In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.


David, a man after God's own heart, expected great things from God first thing. He waited in EXPECTATION. Webster's dictionary defines expectation as: to anticipate or look forward to the coming or occurrence of. Every person that Jesus changed, whether it was through healing, spiritual guidance, or salvation had the expectation that he would follow through. Are you expecting great things from God today?

Forgiven, Really?

As Christians God has forgiven our sins, right? God has completely and truly forgiven you.

Micah 7:19
You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.


God has thrown our iniquities into the sea! The sea is miles and miles deep in some places. If God has completely forgiven us, why do we continually punish ourselves for short-comings that God has already forgotten about? I believe we fall short of the very position God has intended us to be raised up to, because we mull sins of the past, that are already forgiven, over and over in our heads until depression and a feeling of unworthiness sets in. We think that if we say the right things, help the right people, and even start to right programs and ministries that we can somehow earn the gift of salvation that God has already given to us freely. All we have to do is repent and believe.

Isaiah 55:7
Let the wicked forsake his way, And the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you (believers) have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no-one can boast.

Good News...

If your like me you sometimes have a hard time sharing the Good News with others. I think that the number one thing that holds us back from proclaiming the name of Jesus is fear. We have a fear of what people will think of us, that we will be rejected, or just a fear of people. The bible say:

Romans 8:15
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."


So why should we fear? We should cry out to God for boldness, wisdom, and understanding.

I think second we feel that we are unworthy or just don't know enough to speak to someone about the kingdom of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.


James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.


What did Jesus proclaim to the world? Shouldn't we go into the world as he did with the same message he had?

Matthew 4:17
From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

This was Jesus' main sermon. This is the "Great Commission."

Matthew 28:16-20
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Go into all the world and preach the Good News. Proclaim the word of God over yourself daily. Be in prayer constantly. Fellowship with believer so that you can be in agreement over the word of God and you can encourage each other, pray for one another, and hold each other accountable. The kingdom of God is here. Always lift praise and holy hands before the Lord in every situation. If you live in the Word of God you will always have a word from God.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Wisdom..

Wisdom is defined by Webster's dictionary as: a wise attitude, belief, or course of action. There are many people in the world that are known for being wise, but what is wise in man's eyes could be foolishness to God. So how do we seek true godly wisdom?

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Ask and you shall receive. God has an abundant supply just ready for the asking. This is my prayer that God will give me wisdom and understanding so that, through Jesus, his kingdom will advance. What are you praying for?

Life Changing

Do you know who Jesus really is? Are you a Christian? Did you know God wants to bless you?Ask yourself these question and answer them honestly.

Jesus is the savior of the world. He is the promise of God, and the son of God.
Acts 13:23
From this man's descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as he promised.

The only way to heaven is through Jesus.

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

God only has good things for YOU.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

How do you become a christian? Repent of your sins. Repent means to change one's mind, thought, or purpose.
2 Corinthians 7:10
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Boiled Peanuts and Such...

Fellowship is crucial to christian life. It is more than just hanging out talking about the weather, your family, or even boiled peanuts. I have learned that what makes fellowship so important is that others can draw out the best qualities and talents God has given you.

Acts 2:42-47
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

This is things that happen when WE fellowship. Did you notice they were filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs happened? There is something great and powerful about God's people getting together. Where two or more are gathered...

What's going on?

So I'm going to take time and let everyone know what's going on in my life:

- Tuesday I started writing a new song (thanks Dre for the Mac) call "All across the Universe." I only got an intro wrote. Inspiration just would not come. Arghhhhh!

- Wednesday Mark came over to my apartment and we hung out, bounced ideas off each other, and basically just had fellowship. Then, we had a leadership group that night. It was so awesome. I've really missed it, plus we had some great bar b que.

- Thursday I was driving to practice in Adairsville when inspiration hits. Yay! I got there and Dre brought the Mac so I put down a few tracks to the song, and we had an amazing practice.

- Tonight I get to hang out with one of my best friends in the whole world. It's been so long.

- On a side note wedding plans are coming along well. I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with Danielle. She is so amazing. I feel so blessed that God would bring her into my life. Ok. That's enough of the mush.

Finally thoughts:

God is amazing. He has brought some amazing people in my life that encourage me and keep me accountable. You never know when God will do something amazing. Miracles happen every day we are just to blind to see them. We are looking for the spectacular when the real miracles happen with every breath, and every life touched for the kingdom. That is the real miracles.

Racism...

I hope there are people of every race, every nationality, every age, and every language reading this. I was currently reading a blog on Yahoo new about racism and the presidential election. According to the polls and surveys taken there is still racism in American and it is effecting the election process of the next president. What is wrong with people? Why is racism a part of American life?

Lets see what the bible says about it:
Galatians 3:26-28
You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Here Paul is addressing all Christians about racism. It could also read (Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, black nor white, asian nor american, purple nor yellow) for you are all ONE in Christ Jesus. Does it say can all be Two or Three? No! It says ONE! So I say to you why all the prejudice. Do you think that only white people get to heaven? Only black people go to heaven? Only brown people?

Ephesians 2:8
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—


Grace. God is a God of grace, of forgiveness, of loving you for who you are no matter what. Who are we to take what God has made clean and called it unclean? We were all sinfull,dirty people regardless of race or lanuage or color, but God has made us all clean and lifted us up to a Great position. We have all the power of Jesus Christ living through us! Stand up and act like it! Take that power and do as Jesus done. No matter what race, lanuage or nationality...

Being Content...

God will provide for his children.

Matthew 6:25-27
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

We can also be greedy and give into our flesh and want more, more, and more. God has placed you at the exact place and the exact time your in for a reason. God has a plan for our lives that is beyond what we could ever imagine, but it is carried out in HIS time. It's like life is a book about you, and no matter how fast we want to get to the end to see what happens, God flips the pages at HIS own pace. Be content with where God has you at this moment. This is what Paul says about being content:

Philippians 4:12-13
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Think about it! If you try to rush along to get to the "Good stuff" you will probably miss out on the blessings God had for you. Also, if you reached the "Good stuff" it wouldn't be good because God didn't have a chance to prepare you for it. God equips his called, in his time, and then sends them. Look around! You will realize that the things going on in your life now is already the "Good Stuff!"

Just Go...

I have been studying the book of Acts all week. I've read it before but, the deeper I study it the more God reveals to me. I realize that the whole book is about DOING. So many times in our christian lives we are asked to do something and we just say "I'll pray about it." Why do we feel we have to go "pray about it?" We know what God wants. He told us in the gospels and again through the apostles in acts. Jesus says GO!

Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”


Jesus said GO! So...What are we waiting for? If God has given you his Holy Spirit, and also his power through you, then what do we have to fear? Stephen was stoned to death for his faith. Paul was beaten many times and then finally killed for his faith. We are afraid to talk to someone about Jesus because they may make fun of us. We should praise God to be persecuted for his sake.

Let's go into all the world and speak the Good News, or at least go next door. Every day, when we wake up we should think "How can I advance the Kingdom of God today!" Live your life as though Jesus is living through you, because he is.

Spirit...Vision...God

I am beginning to understand why God sent me to serve at Journey Church of Acworth. We had an amazing time of worship, insight, and vision casting last night. Have you ever heard something from God and then wondered how it was suppose to apply to your life? I have, and last night confirms what I heard many years ago. When I was 20 years old I felt that God told me to leave the church I had always known and that he had a higher calling on my life than to sit on a pew. He also said that I would be a part of something big and not to be afraid because of my age. Amazing! I am now in a place of leadership in a growing, life-giving church. Pastor said, "This church's success in seeing souls brought to Jesus falls on YOU." That's a bold statement I've never heard before, but its so true. If one person's not on the same page, the whole church can stumble and fall because of it. Where two or more as gathered in his name, he will be there. If two are gathered in his name and another is there for his own agenda, it will fall apart.

Spirit-lead. What does this mean? I think its more than just lead by the spirit; it's constantly seeking him. Constantly thinking about what his will is. Constantly doing his will for your life.

Vision-lead. Vision by definition in webster's dictionary is: mode of seeing or conceiving: unusual
discernment or foresight. God gives his children vision of his plan for their lives.

A company is only as strong as it's weakest link. The amazing thing about God is that there isn't a weakest link, only pure and perfect...perfection. We are imperfect people, so we should just let a perfect God completely consume our lives.

I'm tired...

I'm gonna be completely honest. I'm not holding anything back. Why can't people be honest with themselves and others? As a christian, I have so much to be happy about. I have so much to be thankful for. At the same time, sometimes I feel broken. My heart breaks for people. How can I be happy when there are so many people in the world are filled with hate? I can look at my life and see how blessed I am, but what about everyone else. What about the people so caught up in sex, drug, alcohol, porn, money, religion, and themselves that they have a miserable life? What about those people that are hurting so bad they don't even want to live anymore? My heart breaks for them. There are so many people in the world that have nothing else to look forward to after death, let alone happiness in this life. Why are we not telling them? If we are, why are they not listening? People say that one man can't cange the world, but I beg to differ. Jesus did. Ok. He was also God, but he said that all thing we seen him do we can also do, through the power of God. What are we missing?

Why do we try to hide so much inside of us? Just be honest with everyone! If someone is struggling with something we also struggle with, tell them. Work things out together with help from God. Lift others up that are going through things you already made it through. Don't put up your nose, point you finger, and say "you should know better." Who are you to judge them? You went through the same thing. Help them! Pray with them. Pray for them. Lift them up and tell them they will make it. I'm just tired of people tearing others down. I'm happy, but at the same time I'm broken. God help me see how you see.

I struggled for years with alcohol and drugs. I'll be honest about it. Only by the grace of God did I come out of it. I'm not saying that to lift me up. I'm saying that to lift what God can do up. God can bring you out of anything. He makes the impossible, possible. He makes the dirty clean. When you come to God, come just as you are. Even if your dirty, nasty, hung over, addicted, and ready to end it all. God will pick you up, clean you off, and put you on his way. I'm tired.....

Christianity...

Christianity...This is a huge, yet small word. It has so much weight to some and just another trend to others. According to a poll in 2007, ninety-one percent of people in America claim to be Christians. Ninety-one percent?! If ninety-one percent of Americans are christian, then why are the ten commandments taken out of schools? Why has prayer been taken out of schools? Why are crime rates so high? The questions could go on and on. The point I'm trying to make is that Christianity has become popular. It's become something you put on the back of a t-shirt and wear around your neck, rather than a life changing experience and a deep love for the things of God. The truth is, many people that go to church have never read the bible. They claim to be Christians and hide behind a mask. They paint on fake smiles every Sunday so that everyone will think they have everything together. Christianity is not about bad people becoming good, it's about dead people becoming alive!

Matthew 7:13-14
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Many people take these verses and concentrate on the small gate; but then they think when they are through, it's all gravy. It also says, "narrow is the road." That means after we are saved, we still must follow this way. As children of God, when we stray from the "narrow road", God is there to pick us up and help us get back on that road. Only a few find it...

Where would Jesus be?

Sometimes as Christians, I feel that we get in our religious bubbles, hang out with our religious friends, go to our religious churches, and do all the religious things Christians do. Why? What are we doing to advance God's kingdom if we continually "preach to the choir"? It seems like we hide behind the phrase, "I don't wanna hurt my witness" just so we don't have to step out of our comfort zones. Where would Jesus go if he was here today? Would he be pleased with us or would he look at us as he did the religious leader of his day? Have we become selfish? Do we cast judgement before we even know someone? This is what Jesus said at a Pharisee's house:


Luke 14:12-14
Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."



Jesus constantly ate and socialized with what some people would call the "scum of the earth." He showed love to everyone equally, and in the end, died for everyone equally. Where would he be if he had been born in these years? In a church, or showing love to hurting people in a bar? Just something for you to think about....

Matthew 25:35-36
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

My Prayer

I cry out to you God. I crave more, more of you. More wisdom. More of your power through me. More of your holy spirit. I fall to my knees in humble fear knowing you are an Almighty God.

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

I pray that your people are lifted up. I pray that our ears are not dull to your voice. Your purpose is majestic. I pray that your hands are over my mouth so that only your words are heard. I pray that your words are in my heart so that I will not stumble. Remove the scales, that blind me, from my eyes so I can see as you see.

Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

The Walking Dead

I am dead. I died at the age of 19. I am not afraid of death, nor fear any man. It is not me that lives anymore, but Jesus living through me. Let me explain a little deeper. Because Christ died for us we in turn must die also and allow him to live in and through us. You must lose your life to gain it. You must die to live.

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Encouragement

We all need encouragement on the journey we call life. As christian we are suppose to have things together, but sometimes we stumble, we fall, we slander, we lust, and we do things that are not of the righteous. What better encouragement than the bible? This is some encouragement from Paul:
2 Corinthians 6:3-10
We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
Paul stood as God's ambassador through beating, imprisonment, persecution, and even death. Let's step back and look at the worries going on in life right now and look at the big picture. Stand firm in your faith and be that city on a hill, and salt and light. Knowing that through our weaknesses God brings victory.

Heart Breaking

So, the other day I was going into a store to buy a cherry-coke. Hmm, I love caffeine. Just before I stepped out of my car I felt that I needed to put my new testament in my back pocket. As I walked up to the counter I noticed that there was a woman stand there having an argument with the cashier. I notice that she was pregnant. Then, I realized what she was saying. She was trying to buy lottery tickets, because she said that she had to support her unborn child. She mentioned that she was on welfare and her husband had just been laid off. The cashier was of middle-eastern descent and he said he wouldn't sell them to her for some reason I didn't catch. She was very angry. She was calling him names littered with obscenities. Have you ever felt you had to do something and just did it without thinking? Its like you get a word from God and you just do it. Well, that's what I did. I tapped the woman on the shoulder, pulled out that new testament, handed it to her, and said "this will give you instructions on raising your child and the God who inspired it will bless you." I never would have guessed what happened next. The woman spit in my face, understatement of the year, she just worked up a big one and let it go right in my eye. Then she threw the new testament down and stormed out the door. I was surprised more than anything. The cashier looked at me and asked if he could have the book, because there had to be something to it if I would take that. You never know how God will use you. You never know what circumstances you will come across. You never know who will spit in your eye. The main thing is that when God tells you to do something, you do it. Persecution will come one way or another. God never promised the path to righteousness would be easy in fact it says:
Matthew 7: 13-14 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Search for the road less traveled. Follow the narrow path of righteousness. In the end, through all the persecution, all the hardship, and all the tears cried God will pick you up and say "Well done my good and faithful servant. Enter the place I have prepared for you." Doesn't that make it all worth while.

Life

Life is about making others people's lives better because you are in it. Its about blessing other people not because you look for something in return but because you love them because God loved you first. God loves the unlovable just as much as he loves the popular. Yes, God wants to bless his children but that doesn't mean we should do things for other people just to get blessed ourselves. The greatest thing you can every do is love.


1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

God is love. What right do we have to hate anyone since God loved them before they were even born? Why does it make people feel better to put others down? God is love. This blows my mind that even through all I've done wrong and all the people I've wronged God still loves me. But he does. More than our mind can even conceive. We should strive daily to love others more deeply and more passionately. My heart breaks....

Good Friends...Good Times

So I've always been kind of the Lone Ranger, just me and my bass guitar. I've realized recently that good friends are hard to come by and can be a gift from God. God has brought some people in my life in the last year that are not only there for me, but also are great accountability partners.


First is Mark and Katrina, I group them together because I guess that's what your suppose to do with married people. Mark is an amazing worship leader. He is just an all around amazing person. Katrina makes me laugh so hard for really no reason. She's just crazy, but in a good way. They are the greatest couple I've every met.


Next is Dre, Dre has a heart for the things of God that you rarely see. She is there through the good and the bad, thick and thin, you get the picture. One day an amazing guy will come along and sweep her off her feet and he will be the lucky one.



Lastly is Danielle, she is the most amazing woman I've ever met. I can't believe that I am so lucky that God would bless me with such an awesome woman of faith to be my girlfriend. I thank God every day for bringing her into my life. If every word I said could make her laugh I'd talk forever, kinda corny I know but true.


True friends are hard to find, but I think I have the best in the whole world.

God's Rocker


You know I've spent so much time in my life wanting to rock and worrying about the music that sometimes I've completely miss the mark. There is more to life than screaming guitars and ear blistering cymbals. I've been a christian since I was 19 years old and it seems like it took me until about a year ago to realize what it is all about. One year ago, I was searching for a church with a different worship style. That's it. Just a church that had a band rather than a choir. I never even dreamed what God had in plan for me. Let me start from the beginning. I played in a christian rock band called Mercy Jones. Our drummer had recently left and we had a show at a small church in Rockmart, GA. Our lead singing had brought in a guy named Billy Britt. Now I was 19 at the time and this drummer was around 40. I was very, very skeptical about have an, pardon the phrase, old man play with us, but something deep inside told me to be more open minded. So the night came and there was technical problems, like there always is, and I just made myself scares. I find a room by myself and decide to read in my bible a little bit, when Billy comes in the room. We start talking and God starts to speak thru me like I've never seen in my life so far. To make a long story short Billy and me are best friends now and he blessed my heart so much that night. He told me about the church he went to call Cornerstone. Skipping ahead three year, I'm looking for a church and I remember that Billy had told me that he went to Cornerstone so I figured I would check it out. Wow! I was blown away by the spirit of God in this church. His hand was on this church from the worship to the preaching. I was amazed that God was working in people's lives so deeply and you could see it and feel it. I had to stick around for this. One Sunday Pastor Douglas Cumbly was preaching on prayer and he handed out this little yellow index cards and told us to write on them what we where believing God for. Hmm. This was a new concept to me. I came from a church with the prayer request list on the back of the bulletin that no one really ever noticed, well or should I say I never noticed. I wrote down on the card: a new vehicle, to move out on my own, a new job, and to be used. I never expected what would happen next. Within one year, I have a new car, a new job, I moved to Rome, GA, and now I have a deeper relationship with God than I've ever had and I'm band leader at Journey Church of Acworth. God is so amazing! Sometime we pray for things that we don't really think will happen or when it doesn't happen immediately we give up on it and get mad at God. We have to realize that God works in his time, not ours. God has a plan for our lives that is so much better than we could have every dreamed. And finally, God wants to bless his children beyond our comprehension. God works in people lives! I'm living proof of that. I've found that God doesn't show you his whole plan all at one time. The closer your relationship is and the harder you work to advance the kingdom the more he will show you. Life is more than Rock 'n' Roll, its bringing praise to an almighty God with everything you do. Even if it is Rock 'n' Roll.
